  • Brief and Set up

The brief - the key question - what are you looking to achieve?

Sophy will ask questions: who, what, when?

She interested in your life, your interests and how you move within the space of your home and garden.

A site survey is carried out (by an outside agent): measurements, window heights, entrance, exit points, drains etc.

Sophy conducts survey analysis looking at boundary treatment, access, trees and shrubs of notable interest, vistas, sunny areas, shady areas, utility zones, historical research, conservation, honouring the original and understanding how to move forward with integrity, understanding interior to create flow from inside out.

  • Design Layers

Pen to paper .. initial sketches to scaled plans.

First, the landscape plan. This maps out the areas within the garden. Boundary, borders, beds, patios, paths, pergolas, washing lines, water features, trees and hedging and the materials.

Second, the planting plan. A detailed plan of all the shrubs, perennials and grasses to live within the beds and borders.

Planting is designed to be successional (bees need pollen and we desire a pleasing view).

Alongside the plant schedule and maintenance plan, written for you, this reminds you and your gardener what you have and how to look after it.

  • Build and Grow

Sophy designs to detail. Clear documentation shows setting out, site lines and build details.

Lighting and Irrigation plans are added by specialists.

Landscapers are invited to tender for the works and the right team are engaged. During the build site visits are vital to ensure plans are correctly followed and any unforeseen matters resolved.

Aftercare is a must and despite research, good planting there will always be something that does not quite grow to plan - it is mother nature! An opportunity to evaluate, and refresh. Sometimes life takes over and we need gardening help.

Please don’t be afraid to call!
