Survey & Site Analysis

A detailed survey provides the foundation for the design process, helping us understand the opportunities and constraints of the site. With a scaled survey in hand, Sophy will spend time with you in the garden, walking through the space to gain a thorough understanding of how it is currently used, what works well, and what could be improved.

This collaborative discussion allows Sophy to develop a design that responds directly to your needs and enhances the way you live in and enjoy your garden. Once the existing site has been fully understood, historical research and consideration of previous landscape interventions can be explored. This ensures the design evolves with integrity, respecting the character of the house, the garden, and its wider setting within the landscape.

From Concept to Creation – Design Plans

The design process moves from ideas to detailed plans that will guide the creation of your garden.

1. Landscape Masterplan

A practical maintenance guide designed to help your garden thrive. It provides month-by-month advice on caring for your plants, highlights key seasonal tasks, and identifies when to expect periods of flowering, colour, texture, and seasonal interest. Whether you maintain the garden yourself or work with a gardener, this plan ensures the garden continues to develop beautifully over time.

Detailed Design Documentation
Successful gardens are built on clear and thoughtful design. Comprehensive technical drawings provide all the information needed to bring the vision to life, including setting out plans, site levels, sightlines, and construction details. Clear documentation ensures that every element is carefully considered and accurately implemented.

Specialist Lighting & Irrigation Design
Where required, specialist consultants are engaged to develop lighting and irrigation plans. These are integrated into the overall design, enhancing both the beauty and long-term performance of the garden.

Tendering & Project Oversight
Experienced landscape contractors are invited to tender for the works, ensuring the right team is selected for the project. During construction, regular site visits are essential to monitor progress, confirm that the design is being delivered as intended, and resolve any unforeseen challenges that may arise along the way.

Aftercare & Ongoing Support
